路易斯‧阿姆斯壯 (Louis Armstrong)

生平簡介

Louis Armstrong出身紐奧良貧民區，很小他父親就拋棄家庭，不知所終，但困窘的生活並不影響少年阿姆斯壯對音樂的追求，他在社會最底層長大，還曾經進過少年感化院，所幸他在感化院學會了吹短號（cornet），開始接觸音樂，沒幾年的時間，18歲的阿姆斯壯，已經是紐奧良知名的演奏者了，成為當時最紅的娃娃歐瑞Kid Ory樂團的短號手，1922年，加入奧立佛國王Joe King Oliver樂團，在前輩奧立佛的指導調教之下，阿姆斯壯進步神速，逐漸建立起他作為一位偉大獨奏者的地位。

當時紐奧良樂手雖然也有興奏的作法，但是大多篇幅不長，音樂上自由開闊的程度也還很不明顯，是阿姆斯壯以熱烈狂野，如泉湧出的即興號音，徹底改造了爵士樂，有一種說法是這樣的，當年阿姆斯壯在佛雷查韓德森Fletcher Henderson大樂團的表現實在太出色了，當他離團之後，韓德森沒有辦法找到能代替的人，韓德森與樂團的編曲主任唐瑞德曼Don Redman研究之後，將阿姆斯壯的演奏拆解開來，用整個樂團來模擬，有人負責學他在節拍前後不定時穿插的裝飾音，終於將阿姆斯壯熱烈而具有強大生命力的搖擺樂成功重現，然後當時各大樂團紛紛仿效，這，就是搖擺樂大樂團的起源！

到了1930年代之後，阿姆斯壯音樂生涯中演唱的比重漸增，「Hello Dolly」、「What a Wonderful World」等等經典名曲膾炙人口，讓他成為世界知名的藝人，影響力超越了音樂範疇，笑口常開的形象，為他贏得一個「Satchmo書包嘴」的外號，他的聲音吵啞，並不是什麼天生金嗓子，但是他賦予歌唱與演奏同等的情感，完全擺脫了傳統上演唱者附屬的角色定位，使歌手成為音樂藝術家，受他影響的歌手包括法蘭克辛那屈Frank Sinatra、艾拉費茲傑羅Ella Fitzgerald、平克勞斯貝Pink Crosby甚至貓王，簡直不計其數。

阿姆斯壯也是爵士樂能推廣到世界各地的最大功臣，他應美國政府的邀約巡迴世界演奏，所到之處無不轟動，對美國文化和爵士樂的形象提升貢獻極大，二次大戰剛結束那段時間，世界各地許多人士就是在聽到他演奏之後，接受了爵士樂，也才開始接受美式文化。
